Creed vocalist Scott Stapp’s wife Jaclyn and his mother-in-law Nayat Nesheiwat have filed legal documents asking for the singer to be involuntarily committed to a mental facility for a period of 60 days, claiming he is in danger of hurting himself and others while he detoxes himself from drug abuse without help.
Stapp was recently committed to — and released from — a three-day psychiatric hold earlier this month, but both his wife and mother-in-law claim he needs to be under observation for longer.
According to TMZ, both women allege Stapp “refuses to get help and is deep into drugs, including amphetamines, steroids, weed, coke, PCP, Ketamine and others.” They also claim he has been leaving “bizarre” messages, claiming his son’s school is being threatened by ISIS and that he has been poisoned.
On November 26, the Creed frontman posted a 15-minute video on the band’s Facebook page claiming he was broke and living out of his truck. He blamed the IRS for his financial troubles and said “lies were being spread” about him.
