They say soccer is the world’s most popular game and now Nickelodeon is joining in on the fun. Following the big win of the USA female soccer team in the Women’s World Cup, the cable channel has scheduled a four-night reality competition show titled Soccer Superstar, in search for the next best teenage soccer player.
The show is set to air on Wednesday, July 8 during the NickSports TV block on Nicktoons and will be syndicated nationwide. The program will follow 15 teen girls as they compete in the Final Squad for the official title of Soccer Superstar. The panel includes Argentinian National Soccer Hall of Famer Marcelo Balboa, Olympic gold medalist Angela Hucles and youth development expert Dan Metcalfe, while hosting responsibilities go to soccer Olympic gold medalist Heather Mitts. In each episode the judges will eliminate a player based on their athletic performances in exercises and soccer and personality challenges on and off the field.
