Halle Berry and Oliver Martinez are divorcing after two years of marriage. The couple announced the split in a joint statement issued to People on Tuesday, Oct. 27:
“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period,” reads the statement.
Berry and Martinez first met in 2010 on the set of the film Dark Tide and maintained a private relationship until they secretly got engaged in 2011. They wed at the Chateau des Conde in France on 2013 and a couple months later, on Oct. 5, welcomed their first son together, Maceo-Robert.
The Oscar-winning actress is also mom to seven-year-old Nahla, whom she had with her ex Gabriel Aubry. This will be the third divorce for Berry, who was married to baseball player David Justice from 1993 to 1997, and singer Eric Benet from 2001 to 2005.
According to TMZ the Extant actress has cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce documents.
