Director James Wan attended WonderCon this weekend to promote his latest films, Lights Out, The Conjuring 2 and Aquaman. All of which he says have fun storyline elements.
“The kind of filmmaker that I am, you know, even my darker horror films generally are still very fun, and I think that’s important,” he told IGN.
He also assured fans that Jason Momoa’s Aquaman is a total stud.
“I think Aquaman is a character that is, you know, a lot of people have made fun of over the years, and I just think it’s fun to actually show a really different, cool, badass side to this character, but at the same time, let’s not forget to have fun with it.”

Momoa made his debut as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he’ll also appear in Justice League: Part One before headlining Wan’s film, which hits theaters July 27, 2018.
“The whole mythology of Aquaman is pretty amazing. There’s so many things to tell, and there’s a whole backstory that’s just amazing,” Momoa told Entertainment Weekly last year. “There’s a lot of surprises coming. I think, yeah, he’s been cast aside [in the past]. But, times are going to change now. … We don’t want to just reinvent it, but [Zack Snyder has] got a whole idea of what Aquaman should be and I’m really honored to be playing it. I’m excited for the world to see it.”
