Kenan Thompson can’t wait to re-team with Kel Mitchell for the fans! Thompson, who currently has a steady gig on NBC’s Saturday Night Live since 2003, spoke to EW about how much he’d love to join in on the ’90s nostalgia by bringing back Kenan & Kel. It’s been twenty years since the duo first connected over their love of orange soda and it’s about time fans find out if it’s still a favorite.
“I don’t think any of us knew how big that was going to be, even today I still get that,” Mitchell said of his character’s favorite drink. “When my wife and I go out to eat, it doesn’t matter what type of restaurant we’re at, whether it’s a five-star restaurant or a burger shack, people go crazy if I don’t get an orange soda. And they’re like, ‘Oh, what are you going to drink? Orange soda?’ And they just crack up, but I enjoy it. I’m happy that people enjoy the show and are still drinking orange soda.”
The duo was reunited briefly for a sketch on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as well as a commercial for Fandango. These meetups helped the duo remember all the good times they had throughout the years they worked together when they were kids.
I mean, we might as well; it couldn’t hurt, “ Thompson teased about bringing back Kenan & Kal. “If people want it then they should have it.”
