La noche más glamurosa de Hollywood se llevó a cabo el 2 de marzo en el Dolby Theater en Hollywood. Después de siete años, la comediante y actriz Ellen DeGeneres regresó como animadora de los Premios Oscar, y no decepcionó. DeGeneres empezó el programa bromeando sobre las tormentas de lluvia que Los Angeles ha tenido en estos últimos dias.

“Gracias por sus oraciones,” bromeó DeGeneres. “Estoy feliz de estar de regreso. Fui la animadora hace siete años, y le agradezco a la Academia por haberme invitado tan rápido.”

Los ganadores en la categoría de actuación de la noche incluyeron: Cate Blanchett como Mejor Actriz por “Blue Jasmine,” Matthew McConaughey como Mejor Actor por “Dallas Buyers Club,” Lupita Nyong’o, Mejor Actriz de Reparto por “12 Years a Slave,” y Jared Leto, Mejor Actor de Reparto por “Dallas Buyers Club.”

Alfonso Cuarón hizo historia como el primer latino en llevarse el premio al Mejor Director por “Gravity.” Y el premio a la Mejor Película se lo llevó “12 Years a Slave.”

En general no se vieron muchas sorpresas en las categorías de los nominados. Ya los favoritas se habían establecido, entre ellos: Matthew McConaughey, Cate Blanchett, Lupita Nyong’o y Jared Leto, quienes llegaron a los Oscars con varios premios bajo la manga. Lo único que realmente no se sabía y vino al último fue el premio a la Mejor Película. El drama histórico “12 Years a Slave,” la espectacular película 3-D “Gravity” y “American Hustle” todas se pelearon por el premio, pero al final ganó la obra maestra de Cuarón. En total, la película se llevó 7 premios.
