In typical Kanye West fashion, the musician surprised fans Wednesday, Jan. 21 when he made an unexpected appearance during a Def Jam presentation at the iHeartMedia Music Summit where he gave an overwhelming 45-minute speech followed by a preview of new music.
No doubt about it Yeezy fans are still on high alert waiting for a new Kanye album to be released but a select few were able to hear a snippet that day of a new duet with none other than Rihanna.
According to Billboard, the musician walked on stage with a laptop and started talking to the crowd about his “innovations” and his “responsibility to innovate.” He then went on to add that he brought unlikely songs and topics to urban radio and now hears his albums’ influences on a lot of radio today.
He also spoke about working with the legendary Beatle, Paul McCartney, whom he most recently collaborated with on the touching song “Only One” which was released on New Year’s Eve, (listen to it here), and even sang some of the song a cappella.
And right before he took his leave he concluded his speech gracing the people with more than his presence and playing one new song, his duet with RiRi that, according to a source, featured acoustic guitar and a big soaring chorus and melody with a massive hook.
Leaving fans wanting more, after the song was over he slammed his laptop and walked offstage to a standing ovation, Yeezy style.
Here’s to hoping the rest of us will get to listen to it soon.
