The social media competition between Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Vin Diesel continues with the former moving ahead with new behind-the-scenes videos on his official Instagram account. Johnson, who’s reprising his role as DSS Agent Luke Hobbs, posted a shot of himself at 4am on the set of Furious 8.
“4am, we’re all exhausted and I’ve been trapped in some wreckage for hours.. but I can always rely on our hard workin’ crew to deliver the zingers.. ”
In a much shorter video, we see his character encounter some type of explosion as he attempts to hide. The fire knocks him off his feet and into a landing area.
“A lil’ kiss kiss bang bang.”
The biggest reveal of them all, however, came from an image that gives possible clues about Hobbs’ time in prison.
“When our Fast & Furious writer Chris Morgan said to me months ago, ‘How insane would it be if in Fast8, Hobbs was sentenced to the most hard core maximum security prison in the world!?” To which I responded, ‘How even more insane and FUN FOR THE FANS would it be if Hobbs said fuck this, I’m gettin’ out… try and stop me.’ Our goal here was to give you – the fans – a “holy shit” iconic prison breakout. For days our intensity was thru the roof. As it should be. And that big round iron thing on the back of Hobbs’ arm is commonly referred to from scientist as his tricep.”
