Sam and Annie are being reunited again, this time for a stage play in London. Sleepless in Seattle tells the story of a young boy who calls a radio talk show to help his widowed father find a date. A woman was listening and she can’t get the duo off her mind. There’s a lot of back and forth but it all leads to a happy ending right before the credits roll.
The stage adaptation of the 1993 romantic comedy will debut on March 17 at the Theatre Royal Plymouth’s Lyric Theatre in Devon before heading over to Dublin then ending its run in the West End. No word yet as to who will portray the roles made famous by Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
The official website describes the musical as:
“Sparkling with all of the charm, romance and wit of the much-loved movie, Sleepless is the heartwarming tale of Sam who moves to Seattle with his eight–year–old son Jonah, following the tragic death of his wife. But when Jonah phones a radio show and gets Sam to talk about his broken heart and sleepless nights live on air, he suddenly finds himself one of the most sought after single men in America and a great news story for feisty journalist Annie on the opposite side of the country. It looks like love is in the airwaves, but how do you know if someone is the one for you when you’ve never even met…”
