Kevin Hart will publish a memoir properly titled, From the Hart, with 37 Ink, an Atria Publishing Group imprint. The book will explore Hart’s childhood in Philadelphia and the struggles he’s faced as a stand-up comic.
“My kids know I’m a big deal. They’re very aware. I let them know every day, I say, ‘Look, daddy’s a big deal,’” Hart said in a statement. “Now I’ll have a book out to prove it.”
Hart’s “What Now” tour grossed more than $100 million globally and his star power is increasingly rising in Hollywood. This year, he will appear in two films, Central Intelligence, alongside Dwayne Johnson and the animated film The Secret Life of Pets.
“I’ve been watching Kevin’s star rise ever since he stole the show in Think Like a Man,” Dawn Davis, 37 Ink vice president and publisher, said in a statement. “He not only has a comedic sensibility that is perfectly-pitched for our time, he has a bounty of stories from his life that are wise, funny, and entertaining.”
Hart is the latest comedian to land a book deal, following the successful publishing deals of Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling, among others. Later in the year, Amy Schumer will debut her first book, The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo, on August 16.
