Eric Medalle, an artist and graphic designer for The Pokemon Company, was killed during a strong windstorm in Seattle, Washington, on Sunday, March 13. He was 42.

Medalle was driving with his 2-year-old daughter when a large tree fell and crushed his BMW X3. His daughter survived the accident with minor injuries, King 5 News reports.

A GoFundMe account was setup for his two daughters following his death.

“Eric’s daughters were the center of his world, and their well-being and education was of the utmost importance to him,” the YouCaring.com page reads. “Education and curiosity are important Medalle family values. Eric was raised in Detroit and graduated a proud Wolverine from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He was passionate about art, photography, music and design, and his chosen hometown of Seattle provided endless inspiration. It was in Seattle that Eric met and fell in love with his wife, Carrie, and together they created a beautiful life and family.”
