Two of your favorite Fox comedies are coming together for a special two-part crossover on Tuesday, October 11 starting at 8pm. According to the episode teaser, the gang travels east to New York City for a bit of touristy fun. Jess (Zooey Deschanel) from New Girl has ventured off on her own in a rental car to get Schmidt(Max Greenfield) some soup when Jake (Andy Samberg) from Brooklyn Nine-Nine commandeers her vehicle. After a totally awkward conversation, Jess decides to assist Detective Peralta in finding a suspect in the case. This could be why she decides to visit Nine-Nine where she’ll share some screen time with Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) and Gina (Chelsea Peretti).
“Jess has always had a rough go of it in New York,” Executive Producer Brett Baer told TVLine. “She’s been there once before and the city kind of beat up on her a little bit. But she is vowing to, no matter what happens, make sure that Schmidt has an amazing trip.”
The crew travels to the Big Apple because Schmidt thinks he’s being honored by his high school. Although only Jess will be shown at the precinct, some of the other castmembers will interact with someone from the Nine-Nine team. You can see Charles (Joe Lo Truglio) with Nick (Jake Johnson) and Winston (Lamorne Morris) at the 11-second mark.
