Selena Marie Gomez was born the 22nd of July, 1992, in Grand Prairie, Texas. Her father, Ricardo Joel Gomez, is of Mexican descent and her mother, Amanda Dawn “Mandy” Cornett, is of Italian ancestry.
She was named after the late Tejana singer Selena Quintanilla.
Selena made her TV debut as a 10-year-old next to the giant purple dinosaur. This is also where she met future BFF Demi Lovato.
In 2003 she made her big-screen debut in this Robert Rodriguez family friendly pic, starring Antonio Banderas.
In 2007, she played Mikayla, Hannah’s pop star rival on Miley Cyrus’ star vehicle on the Disney channel.
Selena’s first public relationship was with this Jonas Brother in 2008. Nick was reportedly with Miley Cyrus prior to romancing Gomez.
Selena’s big break came in 2007 when she landed the lead role in this Disney show as Alex Russo. She starred in the show from 2007-2012.
In 2008 she turned into Cinderella for this ABC Family TV movie alongside Drew Seeley. This is where we started to see more of her singing and dancing skills.
Selena is actively involved in charity work and has been named an ambassador to various philanthropic organizations such as The Ryan Seacrest Foundation, DoSomething.org and UNICEF.
She released her debut album with her band, Selena Gomez & The Scene, in 2009. Her breakout single was “Naturally.”
In the meantime she continued to star in kid-friendly films such as “Monte Carlo” with Leighton Meester and “Ramona and Beezus.”
At the end of 2010 rumors started circulating that she was dating the Biebs. It wasn’t until early 2011 that they officially stepped out as a couple and the hashtag #Jelena was born. Their story continues…
In 2013 she released her third album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts.
Soon we started to see a bolder and flirtier side to Selena in her music videos.

In 2013 jaws dropped when they saw the tween queen as part of this risqué film directed by Harmony Korine and co-starring James Franco as a South Florida drug dealer preying on young girls.

Selena continues to handle her life in the public eye with grace and poise.
Selena recently visited Nepal as an Embassador for UNICEF where she learned first-hand about life in the third-world country and the positive impact that UNICEF’s projects have on its people.
Selena’s Instagram account is an open book filled with stories of love, laughter, friendship, and some of her most memorable moments.
