Famosos piden paz en las calles de Baltimore

Los servicios fúnebres de Freddie Gray desencadenaron protestas violentas en Baltimore, Maryland el 27 de abril pues manifestantes salieron a las calles a pedir por justicia por este hombre afroamericano de 25 años quien murió tras sufrir una contusión en la espalda mientras estaba bajo custodia de agentes a principios del mes de abril.

Su muerte desató muestras de ira entre la comunidad hacia las autoridades y su abuso de poder y violencia pues no es la primera vez que un hombre negro muere a causa de la brutalidad policial, recordemos los casos de Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown y Eric Garner durante los últimos años.

Sin embargo, las protestas en Baltimore se han salido de control pues en vez de ser pacíficas, residentes y activistas se han mostrado violentos, lanzando ladrillos y piedras a elementos de seguridad dejando a varios heridos. El gobernador republicano de Maryland, Larry Hogan, ha declarado estado de emergencia y movilizó a la Guardia Nacional para poner orden en las calles de la ciudad.

Como es de costumbre los famosos no se han quedado callados y han acudido a las redes sociales para hacer un llamado de paz pero también de justicia.

We all want Justice. And our city will get the answers we are looking for. My deepest sympathy goes out to the GRAY Family. To see my city in a State of Emergency is just shocking. We need to protect our city, not destroy it. What happens when we get the answers that we want, and the media attention is not there anymore? We go back to being the same ol Baltimore City again. If not yourself, then Think about the youth. How this will impact them. Let's build our city up not tear it down. Although, we want justice, let's look at the real issues at hand. For example, When was the last school built in Baltimore? That's just one example. I know my community is fed up. I'm all about fighting for what we believe in. The anger, the resentment, the neglect that our community feels right now, will not change over night. Continue, fighting for what you believe in. But remember, it takes no time to destroy something.
