Two of Shia LaBeouf’s collaborators have come forward to verify the actor’s account that he was raped during his recent #IAMSORRY art installation in Los Angeles.
Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner, who helped LaBeouf conceive of the exhibition in which he donned a paper bag and met with strangers, tweeted on Sunday morning that yes, it happened but nobody was unaware of the details at the time.
“As soon as we were aware of the incident starting to occur, we put a stop to it and ensured that the woman left,” Rönkkö said.
Turner, responding to a tweet from Piers Morgan, wrote: “It wasn’t clear at the time precisely what had happened, & the 1st priority was to ensure everybody’s safety in the gallery…She ran out, rather than simply walking away.”
LaBeouf claimed in an interview with Dazed & Confused magazine that a woman, after whipping him for 10 minutes, stripped the actor of his clothes and raped him as her boyfriend, as well as LaBeouf’s girlfriend, waited in line outside the gallery.
Read his full comments below. The alleged attacker has still not been identified.
“One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me. …There were hundreds of people in line when she walked out with disheveled hair and smudged lipstick. It was no good, not just for me but her man as well. On top of that my girl (actress Mia Goth) was in line to see me, because it was Valentine’s Day and I was living in the gallery for the duration of the event — we were separated for five days, no communication. So it really hurt her as well, as I guess the news of it traveled through the line. When she came in she asked for an explanation, and I couldn’t speak, so we both sat with this unexplained trauma silently. It was painful.”
This is ridiculous, basically he “couldn’t” call out because that would have broken the performance art parameters. But did they have NOBODY observing either in the room or on camera, what was happening in the room. You are arguably an A-list actor and you didn’t have security, that would be silly and irresponsible.
Like using provocative clothes and walking on dangerous streets
Im sorry, i had to
You have a point, but i don’t think that makes the whole thing less serious
walking around in provocative clothes and on dangerous streets doesn’t make rape okay to happen to you, but it makes you a lot more likely to be raped, just saying
If “nobody was unaware” that means they were aware. So which was it?
I also don’t understand this story, at all.
Now I feel like Shia managed to make himself look even more delusional.
I’m trying to understand this story. Did Shia fight the woman off? I’m reading that he could not speak… Was his mouth covered under the paper bag??? If not did he call for help at any point?? He was whipped… Did he scream???? The woman ran off… Were the cops called in?? Did SHIA REPORT THE RAPE??? I just don’t understand this story at all.
Now watch all those vile feminists and women’s groups try to poo-poo this. Only women are victims and all men are perpetrators is their filthy motto.
Um, I found this through a feminism page so….
Vile feminists? Wow, them’s fighting words. I consider myself a feminist, but to me that means equality overall. This is a horrible thing to have happen to ANYONE, and clearly consent was assumed by the nature of the installation…not the case in my eyes.
