Julia Roberts applauds Jennifer Lawrence on her op-ed piece on the wage gap in Hollywood. The 48 year-old actress stated that it’s great to see someone speak their mind and shake things up.
“I applaud her. She’s a young, fabulous, talented whippersnapper and I love that she’s stirring things up,” Roberts told Michael Strahan in an interview on Good Morning America. “I mean, she just –she’s so energetic and seems to speak her mind and I think it’s great. I think it’s great to kind of shake things up. I think it’s great to go, ‘Excuse me. Over here. I know something now and I’m frustrated by it and why is this?’”
The Secret in Their Eyes actress also sees some similarities between her and Lawrence. “I feel like part of my personality is ferocious, and part of my personality is the greatest power you can wield toward an enemy is to ignore their existence,” says Roberts.
Her Hunger Games co-star Josh Hutcherson also praised her taking a stand. “I’m really proud of her, and happy,” he told MTV. “She’s always been a little gun-shy. She’s always said what she thinks, but as far as tackling issues, she’s never really stepped up to do that. It’s nice to see her now taking that step, being progressive, and using her voice not just to make people laugh.”
