Following an unexpected mid-concert injury over the weekend in Tijuana, Enrique Iglesias is now recovering from reconstructive hand surgery.
Now, days after the injury and with fans worrying about the singer, his team released a statement on Enrique’s personal Instagram with an update on his condition:
“We wanted to give you a personal update about his condition. His recent surgery lasted longer than expected since the damage ended up being a bit worse than initially assessed. He suffered a fracture that needed to be corrected in addition to the reconstructive surgery. He will be recovering during the next few weeks, but a full recovery is anticipated. – Team Enrique.”
While onstage and performing, the 40-year-old had his hand sliced open by a drone that was taking aerial photos. Iglesias quickly jumped off-stage after he began bleeding and received medical attention. His team urged him to cancel the rest of the concert, but the singer returned on stage, with his hand wrapped and a heart drawn on his white shirt, to perform for another thirty minutes.
Over the past days fans have been nothing but supportive , tweeting, Instagraming and sending well-wishes to the “I Like It” singer. As for now Iglesias will resume his “Sex and Love Tour” on June 3rd in Mexico City.
