Take that, naysayers! The internet didn’t agree with Lifetime when they announced they’d be remaking the 1988 classic Beaches but the TV movie just received a major endorsement. Bette Midler, who famously played CC Bloom in the Garry Marshall film, Tweeted her excitement to see Idina Menzel take over the role.
She said, “Can’t wait to see Idina Menzel as CC in Lifetime’s “Beaches!” DON’T TELL ME THE ENDING!”
Shortly after Lifetime announced they’d be remaking the tear-jerker, Menzel swiftly sent out a message about Midler being her idol.
She said, “@BetteMidler has been one of my all time idols. I hope I can make her proud. #beaches”
The network has released few details about the contemporary remake so far but with shooting set to begin on August 15th in Vancouver, more news is sure to come. The big question is who will play the role of Hillary Whitney Essex, made famous by Barbara Hershey?
According to People, many of the famous songs including Wind Beneath My Wings and The Glory of Love will be performed as well as other ones recorded specifically for the movie.
