Eloise (Anna Kendrick) almost didn’t attend Francie Millner’s wedding, but she RSVP’ed anyway. She was dumped by the groom’s best man via text message recently and everyone is surprised she showed her face. At least she’s not alone. There’s a table full of people seated who no one expected to come—Table 19.
Joining her at the faraway table are five randoms, played by Stephen Merchant (Extras), Craig Robinson (The Office), Lisa Kudrow (Friends), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), and June Squibb (The Man Who Shook the Hand of Vicente Fernandez).
“You know what Francie’s mother calls table 19,” Eloise asks in the trailer. “The table that should have known to send regrets but not before sending something nice from the registry. The table that could disappear in the middle of the wedding and no one would even notice.”
This is the second wedding-themed film for 30-year-old Kendrick as of late. She’s currently appearing in the Jake Szymanski directed film, Mike and Dave Need a Wedding Date.
Table 19 was co-written by brothers Mark and Jay Duplass, directed by Jeffrey Blitz (The Office) and also stars Wyatt Russell, Amanda Crew, and Rya Meyers. It opens in theaters on January 20.
