Moana has been in love with the ocean ever since she was a baby. In the new international trailer for Disney’s Moana, you’ll see the infant protagonist get swept up by the beautiful sounds of the sea. Her giggles encourage the waves to dance as it reveals its many inhabitants including a huge sea turtle and a flopping fish.
A giant droplet even swoops down and gives the wee child a fun new hairstyle before sending her off to find new adventures.
“Moana is a sixteen-year-old girl, co-director Ron Clements explained to Variety Latino. “She is the daughter of Chief Tui of the Motonui Island. The story takes place 2,000 years ago in the central part of the South Pacific. This was a time when navigation had stopped for a thousand years and then resumed. Moana is an instrumental part of that because she loves the ocean and she wants to be on the water. She was a big part of restoring this lost art in the story.”
In the animated film, you’ll hear the voices of Auli’li Cravalho as Moana, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as demigod Maui, and Alan Tudyk in an as-of-yet not announced role.
Catch Moana in theaters on November 23.
I loved Princess and the Frog and the whole New Orleans setting. I’m sure I’m going to love this too. The animation looks beautiful and I love the amount of detail they put into the hair 🙂
