Actress/Singer/Activist Lady Gaga is teaming up with His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet to help spread the message of kindness and compassion at the 84th Annual U.S. Conference of Mayors on Sunday, June 26. The Dalai Lama will address nearly 300 of the nation’s mayors in Indiana about the global significance of building kind and compassionate cities through action at the local level.
Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, will join the onstage conversation moderated by journalist Ann Curry, which will be followed by a Q&A session by the mayors and young people from around the country.
Gaga took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to share her excitement.
Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have been invited to address the meeting and discuss The 2016 Mayors’ Compact for a Better America: A Call to Action, which prioritizes urban issues, as well as their vision to strengthen the federal-local partnership and build strong cities and metro economies.
For those not able to attend the meeting in person but would like to watch, there is an official app available from both the Apple App Store and Google Play for Android. You can find more information on UsMayors.org.
