Shia LaBeouf slapped a fan in the face during his latest performance art piece. The actor participated in a project called #ELEVATE over the weekend where he was holed up in an elevator for 24-hour at Oxford University.
The project, a collaboration with Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner, gave students the opportunity to talk with the star and ask questions about his career. Before the 24 hours were over, a freshman student named Oscar Plomer-Roberts asked Shia to punch him in the face.
“Can you help me with the completion of my next piece by punching me in the face?,” he said. “Do it. Don’t be a p**sy,” he added after LaBeouf disapproves of the idea.
After a few back-and-forth comments, the student settles for a slap instead. When LaBeouf again refuses, the student says “this is the man who gave himself two scars [for a film].”
LaBeouf responded: “I’ll do it to myself but I don’t like doing it to you, dude. I just met you.”
Seconds later, the Fury actor slaps the student. Watch the video below:
“I asked him to punch me, and he connected a sort of play-punch — as a joke obviously,” Plomer-Roberts told Entertainment Tonight. “Then I asked for a slap instead, because he was obviously uncomfortable with the prospect of hurting someone — because, I might add, he’s a really nice guy.”
