Susan Sarandon joins the list of celebrities that can’t take Donald Trump seriously. The Oscar winner compared the GOP front-runner to an inebriated relative on Wednesday, Jan 27 while she volunteered at a Bernie Sanders rally held in Mason City, Iowa.
“He reminds me of your drunk uncle at a wedding, who gets up and starts talking,” Sarandon told the online news show The Young Turks. “He’s like a figure from a Kurt Vonnegut novel … I can’t even address him seriously.”
The actress and political activists also criticized the manner in which Trump generates hate across the country.
“What concerns me is not him. What concerns me is that he has made hatred and racism normal. He’s normalized it,” she explained. “He’s taking this, you know, undercurrent of discontent that’s looking to blame somebody and he’s legitimized those feelings and that, I think, is a very dangerous thing.”
Sarandon even stated that she thinks his presence and points of views give Republicans a bad name. “I cannot believe for a second that America would actually make Donald Trump the president. Republicans are not all bad, they’re not all crazy, they’re not all greedy,” she added. “I think there’s some very sane Republicans and they must be so embarrassed by what’s going on right now.”
