Tom Hiddleston appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday to address those James Bond rumors.
“I play a British spy in The Night Manager, so I think people have made the leap,” the actor explained to Jimmy Kimmel. “As somebody who grew up with Sean Connery and Roger Moore, there’s a part of me that goes, ‘Really? Are you kidding?’ But I feel like who’s going to be the next James Bond is one of the nation’s favorite pub conversations.”
Adding, “ It’s up there with who’s gonna win X Factor and when is the England national going to live up to its full potential and is Britain gonna leave the EU?,” he said.
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Hiddleston revealed he’s a huge fan of the Bond series and would be honored to be involved in any way.
“I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing,” he said. “If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity. And I’m very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly.”
Other actors vying for the coveted role include Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Damian Lewis, Aiden Turner and Henry Cavill.
