Could you imagine Idris Elba as James Bond?

We sure can and so can many other people!

On Saturday, December 27, the actor put in his two cents about the casting rumors that surfaced last week about him being up for the role of the legendary secret agent.

“Isn’t 007 supposed to [be] handsome? Glad you think I’ve got a shot! Happy New Year people,” he commented along with a silly picture of himself.

While he may poke fun at his rugged good looks and witty sense of humor, he sure has our vote for the lead!

New talks about Idris being the new Bond came courtesy of the Sony hacking.

Though it did prove to be a long battle between North Korea and their want for “The Interview” to not be released, it also brought about other unwanted emails that were leaked.

One that was revealed included an email from Rush Limbaugh commenting on how Idris is not the man for the job after Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal thought Idris would be great as 007.

“James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is,” Limbaugh stated adding, “But now [they are] suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton, rather than a white from Scotland. But that’s not who James Bond is. I know it’s racist to probably point this out.”

Of course people had a heyday over his choice of words but as we can see so did Idris.

This isn’t the first time the star of “No Good Deed” has spoken about being part of the 007 franchise. During a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), he commented about doing the James Bond role, “Yes, if it was offered to me, absolutely.”

His only concern?

“I just don’t want to be called the first black James Bond. Do you understand what I’m saying? Sean Connery wasn’t the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn’t the blue-eyed James Bond,” stated the actor. “So if I played him, I don’t want to be called the black James Bond.”

In the meantime Craig will reprise his role in “Spectre” due in theaters November 2015.

Would you like to see Idris as the new Bond, James Bond?
