Maya Rudolph and Martin Short will headline NBC’s new comedy show Maya & Marty, which will feature sketches inspired by current events, celebrities and topical trends, as well as music performances.
The first promo art for the show was revealed Thursday via People, which shows Rudolph, 43, and Short, 66, posing side-by-side with the tagline “Together, they’re one of a kind.”
“It’s completely a variety show,” said Short during NBCUniversal’s Summer Press Day. “People question, ‘Is variety going to come back?’ It is back. Hopefully the gimmick of this one is: strong entertainers.”
The show will be executive produced by SNL creator Lorne Michaels. Matt Roberts, Erin David, Dave Becky and Marc Gurvitz will produce along with Rudolph and Short. Kenan Thompson has also joined the series, which will air live each week.
Maya & Marty premieres May 31 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
