John F. Kennedy, Jr. lived his life under the spotlight since he was a young boy until his tragic death at the age of thirty-eight in 1999. America was enamored with President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kenndy‘s young son and they embraced him as his own after his father was assassinated just three days before his third birthday.

Spike TV is set to air an original documentary about his life entitled, I AM JFK Jr. on Monday, August 1 at 9:00pm ET/PT. It will feature exclusive interviews from a wide array of friends and former colleagues including Robert De Niro, Cindy Crawford, Christiane Amanpour, Chris Cuomo, Paul Begala, Gary Ginsberg and Matt Berman.

The documentary promises to take you behind-the-scenes to introduce you to the real John Jr., with stories you’ve never heard before- from his time serving as the Assistant District Attorney of New York to launching the glossy political magazine, George.

In addition to personal photos from Kennedy’s closest friends, the film features vintage footage of young JFK Jr. in the White House, with his family, and rare views of him in the years after his father’s assassination.

The documentary will also have a limited theatrical release starting on July 20.
