With the news that Warner Bros. has conjured up a team to extend the HP franchise into unchartered territories, it’s safe to say that the Wizardly World is not going away anytime soon.
In June 2014, fans got a totally unexpected but welcome update on Harry’s life. J.K. Rowling published a piece on her website Pottermore telling the story of how “The Boy Who Lived” is doing at age 34.
In a 200-acre studio complex in England, Potterheads can get an inside look at how their favorite fantasyland was created in “The Making of Harry Potter.” Filled with costumes, props, sets and all things HP, if there’s something you’ve seen on film, it’s most likely here.
But you don’t have to trek overseas to escape to the Wizarding World; you can just head on over to Universal Studios Orlando where you can enjoy life as a wizard at Hogsmeade or the new Diagon Alley, which opened in June 2014. HP enthusiasts can enjoy the Gringotts Bank and thrillseekers can take a roller coaster ride on “Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.”
According to reports, the author is set to co-produce a stage play version of her beloved novel. The story will venture into Harry’s untold story of life as an orphan and outcast in the muggle world. The play will open in London’s West End next year.
Harry goes global! The franchise opened its doors to the world of Harry Potter in Osaka, Japan, on July 15, 2014. Fans can take a spin on the Flight of the Hippogriff roller coaster and visit Hogsmeade for a taste of some Butterbeer.
HP fans can experience the life of a wizard with Rowling’s site. You can get a wand, get sorted into a house, brush up on your spell skills and more.
The 3 part film series is set to debut in 2016. The spin-off has nothing to do with “Harry Potter” characters but instead tells the story and life of wizard and magizoologist Newt Scamander and his love for magical creatures.
Plans to create a Wizarding World in California were announced in 2011. Currently under construction, it replaced the Gibson Amphitheatre and The Adventures of Curious George at Universal Studios Hollywood and is expected to open in 2016.
With all these new efforts to keep the franchise alive it makes us wonder…will Rowling reconsider and give us a whole new series with Harry, Hermione and Ron? One can only dream…
