Multi-platinum recording artist and actress Demi Lovato has joined the cast of Robert Rodriguez‘s From Dusk Till Dawn. Lovato will have a guest-starring role in the second season of the El Rey Network supernatural thriller. She confirmed the news on June 9 via Instagram, sharing pictures on set with her “boss” and fellow cast member / boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.
The 22-year-old star joins returning cast members such as DJ Cotrona, Eiza González, Esai Morales, Zane Holtz, Jesse Garcia and Danny Trejo. In the new episodes, the cast travels between Mexico and Texas, “which will deepen and complicate the core relationships between the characters, while adding new faces and new dynamics.” Season two of From Dusk Till Dawn will premiere on El Rey Network on Tuesday, August 25th.
This is Lovato’s first role since her cameo on Glee in the 2013-14 season. In addition to working on her fifth studio album, Lovato recently teamed up with advocacy groups such as Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, The JED Foundation and Mental Health America to launch the campaign “Be Vocal, Speak Up“. In the campaign, she opened up about her personal experience with bipolar disease and expressed a desire to help those struggling with mental health issues.
