The Golden Globes’ Twitter account mixed up Latina actresses Gina Rodríguez and America Ferrera Thursday morning during the nominee announcements.
The Superstore actress was one of the four presenters whom twice got misidentified by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as Best Actress nominee Gina Rodríguez using her Twitter handle @HereIsGina. “@HereIsGina is kicking off the @goldenglobes nominations announcements,” the first tweet read with a picture of Ferrera taking the microphone at the event.
The second picture was a group photo of Ferrera alongside the other three presenters: Angela Bassett, Chloë Grace Moretz and Dennis Quaid. “The Golden Globes’ noms are about to start,” the verified account tweeted.
None of the actresses have addressed the awkward situation. The Jane the Virgin star did send out a tweet expressing gratitude for her nomination in next year’s award show.
Rodríguez took home her first Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical earlier this year. With an emotional speech, she dedicated her award to the Latino community: “This award is so much more than myself, it represents a culture that wants to see themselves as heroes.”
