It’s widely known that Gina Rodriguez has a lot of love for her father, Genaro Rodriguez. The 30-year-old Jane the Virgin star humbly praised him earlier this year after accepting her Golden Globe trophy for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, thanking him for all his support and words of wisdom.
Now the actress of Puerto Rican descent is once again paying homage to the man that always believed in her in a new book titled I Can and I Will: Tools My Daddy Gave Me, to be released in 2016.
Before we can get our hands on Gina’s personal stories and Mr. Rodriguez’s quotes that gave her strength in times of hardships, the rising star spoke to People Magazine and sent a heartfelt message to her #1 fan, just in time for Father’s Day.

“Growing up with my father, I could never be afraid of anything. He would tell me fear only exists between your two ears. Don’t be scared –go out and get it! He is the reason I fought so hard for myself and for others. His belief in me was so strong, I couldn’t doubt myself. (Although sometimes I tried!)
Thank you, Dad, for seeing the power I owned and helping me learn how to find it for myself.”
Gina also posted the message on her Instagram where she added a personal note saying, “[He] taught me courage I couldn’t ignore and the belief that I could fly!” I love you daddy-o.”
