Legendary Mexican-American singer Selena will be coming back to life in hologram form, the Quintanilla family confirmed the news on Tuesday, April 7 on the late singer’s official Facebook page.

In collaboration with Acrovirt, LLC, the company has announced the launch and development of Selena The One, “a walking, talking, singing and dancing digital embodiment” of the Mexican singer.

This “new” hologram Selena will release new songs and videos, will collaborate with current hit artists and even has plans to go on tour in 2018, according to the statement.

“Selena is a Latin American icon who was taken before her time. Acrovirt and the Quintanilla family are excited to announce that Selena will continue to share her creative talents with the world in a new innovative way,” stated Co-Founder of Acrovirt, Terry Kennedy.

According to the Selena The One site, Acrovirt is a master research and development company that aims to develop virtualization and interactive technologies for educational, therapeutic and entertainment purposes.

The firm is also launching The Indiegogo Campaign on April 16, set to raise $500K to support the development of the iconic singer. The San Diego Latino Film Festival has also jumped on board to become an official media partner to create the project.

The Grammy-winner was tragically assassinated on March 31, 1995 at the age of 23 and quickly became a household name and icon to the Latino community.
