Unedited Pictures Beyonce Jennifer Lopez

Is it just me or is it every time that an unedited celebrity photo gets leaked the media goes crazy?

Most recently new images of Jennifer Lopez emerged online pre-photoshop and you know what? She looks pretty amazing!

While many are quick to jump at the chance to pick apart her photos others, like myself, praise it and seem to think that she is flawless.

While in a world where even Instagram and Twitter let you filter your pictures these “news” stories shouldn’t even be a huge shocker. We all know that every single picture that you see in a magazine is edited but our eyes are opened when we see the original.

But why are we so obsessed with seeing the original? Or even when we say that we don’t care we still click on the link to see them? I can’t speak for everyone but what I can say is that we click because it’s intriguing, it’s thrilling and it shows you that not even the people who seem to be perfect on screen really are.

I can tell you first handed that when I stood next to JLo on the red carpet at the MTV VMA’s she was – and is – drop dead gorgeous and breathtaking. She literally is flawless, so these pictures didn’t even faze me.

But as humans, we over-think and have an opinion about almost everything. It’s just in our nature, or at least in mine, to be curious and to want to see the unedited images to just get a glimpse. But there is a difference between appreciation and ridiculing, nit picking and judging. What I can do and what many should do is appreciate the beauty in the unedited images. I know that I do not look half as good as they do when I wake up or even when I go to take pictures.

For example, Beyoncé may have had a few blemishes but hey girl, that’s me as well! Now I have something in common with Queen Bey!

And it’s not just women. A couple weeks ago Justin Bieber got ridiculed for his “photoshopped” Calvin Klein ads but he just laughed it off. Though it is quite comical that while women need to be thinned out, men want to get buffer.

People like to see what really goes on behind-the-scenes and how real or unreal their favorite celebrities are. But that doesn’t mean we should be saying, “Shocker! Look at those pimples on Beyoncé” or “Jennifer Lopez’s body unedited.” We should focus on their work and what they have done. And you know what, J.Lo looks amazing for a 45 year-old woman and Bey probably has blemishes from all the hard work she does on stage and constantly runs an empire.

So let’s praise Jenny From The Block and Bey because even if we do like to take glimpses at their unedited photos, or any other celebrity, we can try and appreciate their realness and rethink before we comment and say anything negative.
