Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have released the first trailer for Genius. The drama was directed by Michael Grandage and stars Colin Firth, Jude Law, Nicole Kidman and Laura Linney. John Logan wrote the script.
The trailer highlights the working relationship between a world-renowned book editor Maxwell Perkins (Firth) and a literary giant Thomas Wolfe (Law). It also teases Wolfe’s struggle to edit down the first iteration of what would become his debut novel, Look Homeward, Angel, which was originally 1,100-plus pages.
Guy Pearce and Dominic West co-star as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, respectively. Both writers were discovered by Perkins. Kidman plays Aline Bernstein, Wolfe’s wife, who wants more than anything to make their marriage work.
The film is based on the biography Max Perkins: Editor of Genius by A. Scott Berg. The film hits theaters on June 10.
