Whether you’re a fan of Mixed Martial Art (MMA) fighting or not, there’s no denying it’s a tough business and not for the faint of heart. Viewers get a behind-the-scenes look into the sport in the first trailer for the documentary The Hurt Business, from the producers of Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11 and Generation Iron.

MMA is not just for men anymore. Ronda Rousey, the former bantamweight champion who was defeated by Holly Holm at UFC 193 last November, is featured in the film. Other familiar faces discussing the taboo sport include Tito OrtizGeorges St-Pierre, and Jon Jones. More importantly, they open up a dialogue about the health issues fighters suffer including how it affects their mental health. Many wonder if they will be able to raise their children due to injuries and brain damage.

As long as there are willing participants to fight, there will be an audience willing to watch two people beat each other up for sport. “There’s something about two men that get inside of a cage and compete against each other that human nature loves to watch,” said Ortiz in the trailer.

The film doesn’t have a release date yet but it’s due out sometime this fall.
