Former LAPD detective Mark Fuhrman, known for finding the infamous bloody glove on O.J. Simpson’s property after the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, is speaking out against the hit series American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

Fuhrman, now 64 years-old and a crime analyst, also provided key testimony during the Simpson murder trial. He later pleaded no contest to a perjury charge stemming from his false claim on the stand that he had not used a racial slur in the past decade. The defense later suggested that the glove was planted by Fuhrman.

“The last 20 years, I have watched the facts dismissed by the media, journalists and the public simply because it does not fit within the politically correct narrative,” Fuhrman told the New York Post. “At this late date, FX is attempting to establish a historical artifact with this series without reaching out to any prosecution sources. In a time when Americans read less and less and investigative journalism is on vacation, it is sad that this movie will be the historical word on this infamous trial. After all, it was ‘based on a true story.’”

Fuhrman, who claims he’s not bothered by how the public perceives him more than 20 years after the trial, also bashed the series for not focusing on the actual murders that occurred in 1994. Instead, the former detective says the series is making Simpson look like a victim.

“This miniseries will most probably define not the historical record of the murder of two people, but the almost pathological desire to elevate a narcissistic, violent man to victim status just because he was a black athlete,” he said. “Immensely sad. I am angry and bitter because the truth is a massaged reality. Let’s play grownup for a while. This is not about me. There will be another O.J., and what we have learned is that political correctness and stupidity trump justice.”

American Crime Story is based on the book “The Run of His Life: The People V. O.J. Simpson” by Jeffrey Toobin, and chronicles the Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers.

The star-studded cast includes John Travolta, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Sarah Paulson, David Schwimmer and Courtney B. Vance. The series was created by Ryan Murphy.
