Mickey Rooney's son Teddy dies at

Actor and musician, Teddy Rooney died on Saturday after a long illness, he was 66-years-old. He was the son of actors Mickey Rooney and Martha Vickers, born April 13, 1950. At the time of his death, he was living in a convalescent home in Southern California, according to his sister Kelly who confirmed the news of his death to The Hollywood Reporter.

Teddy began acting as a child with his father in 1958’s Andy Hardy Comes Home and with his mother in an episode of Playhouse 90 in 1957. He also starred alongside top Hollywood talent including 1959’s It Happened to Jane with Doris Day and Jack Lemmon, an episode of Shirley Temple’s Storybook where he played Huck Finn, and episodes of LassieMcHale’s NavyGeneral Electric Theater, and The Rifleman.

He gave up his acting career to pursue a career with his brothers Mickey Jr. and Tim in the band The Rooney Brothers.  Teddy played bass and served as the singer. He was also in the LA rock band The Yellow Payges during the late 1960’s.

Teddy’s father Mickey passed away at the age of 93 in 2014 of natural causes. His mother, Mickey’s third wife, died at the age of 46 in 1971 of esophageal cancer.

He is survived by his wife Carol, children Shannon and Dominique, and two grandchildren.
