Coldplay’s latest album A Head Full Of Dreams is set to reach the top spot on the Official UK Albums Chart this Friday, February 12, following the band’s electrifying Super Bowl 50 halftime performance.
Overshadowed by Adele’s mega-selling album 25 on its original release date in December, A Head Full Of Dreams is finally making its way back up the UK charts, with a spike of 8,000 combined sales since Sunday’s event. If the album does make it to the top spot, it will become Coldplay’s seventh number one UK album.
Rounding out the Official Albums Chart, David Bowie’s “Best Of Bowie” slips to No. 2, while Elton John’s “Wonderful Crazy Night” rises to No. 3. Adele’s “25” finishes at No. 4 and Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” holding steady at No. 5.
Over on the singles chart, Coldplay’s “Hymn For The Weekend” climbed from 60 to 28 mid-week. The video for the song has been criticised for showing a “stereotypical” image of India, as it features the band being sprayed with colored powder and water as residents celebrate Holi, the festival of color and coming of spring.
