Marc Anthony received a Guinness World Record for the most year-end best-selling albums in the tropical albums’ chart by a solo artist. The singer was awarded the honor on Saturday, Feb. 6 during his sold-out concert in Madison Square Garden.
“I cannot think of a better way of celebrating my return to Madison Square Garden and be presented with this recognition here at home, where everything began with just a dream,” he said in a statement. “I am honored to receive this special recognition from Guinness World Records.”
Saturday’s performance in New York City marked Anthony’s return to the Big Apple in over 10 years.
His previous albums Desde un Principio: From the Beginning (2000), Libre (2002) and 3.0 (2013) were crowned the best-selling tropical albums during the time of their release. The Guinness World Records Committee waited until Anthony’s comeback performance in New York to present the honor.
This is Anthony’s second Guinness World Record, he received his first record for being the top-selling tropical salsa artist of all time.
¡Congrats Marc!
