Top Gear may have been plagued by drama after radio personality Chris Evans signed on, allegedly caused drama on-set, then quit UK’s top-rated Top Gear after just six episodes. But former (and most popular) host Jeremy Clarkson remained totally unaffected as he’s moved on with an upcoming series on Amazon entitled, The Grand Tour.
These first photos were released on Sunday showing Clarkson and his former Top Gear cohorts Richard Hammond and James May currently on location in Johannesburg, South Africa. Here’s the official description of the images provided by Amazon Video:
“Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in Johannesburg at the first ever studio tent recording of the brand new Amazon Original Series The Grand Tour, which will launch exclusively for Amazon Prime members this fall.”
Clarkson wrote a column for The Sun on Friday about his worries about the new show.
“We’ve done it hundreds of times. It should be easy. I should be relaxed,” he wrote in the column. “But tomorrow, in a field just outside Johannesburg, James May, Richard Hammond and I will record the first studio segment for our new show, the Grand Tour. And I don’t mind telling you. I’m crapping myself.”
He seemed to be just fine after shooting officially began according to the Tweet he sent out after they wrapped for the day.
“Some people came to see our first ever Grand Tour show today, he Tweeted. “God I love Johannesburg”
