Jason Momoa is going back in time in his new series Frontier. Set in the 18th century, this Netflix drama will transport viewers to a time when there was a violent and chaotical struggle to control wealth and power in the North American fur trade. As you can tell from the first image released by the streaming giant, Momoa is playing yet again a character who is not afraid to get his hands dirty. As Declan Harp, he hands a firm-yet-bloody grip around the neck of Michael Smyth (played by Landon Liboiron). This is the first of two Westerns headed to Netflix, the second is Godless also set to be released in 2017.
Frontier made its big debut November 6 on Discover Canada with the episode entitled “A Kingdom Unto Itself” and a second episode entitled “Little Brother War” airing on Sunday, November 13. Although the series was originally rumored for a 2016 release in the United States, it was announced on Monday that it would make it’s big debut on January 20. The six-episode period drama also co-stars Michael Patric, Diana Bentley, Breanne Hill, Jessica Matten, and Paul Ewan Wilson.
A second photo was also released showing Momoa in full period costume. You can see it below:
