New ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6
Entertainment Weekly

HBO released brand new images of Game of Thrones Season 6 on Friday. The images were premiered on Entertainment Weekly and feature new and returning characters.

The new images provide a small glimpse of some tough times ahead for both Arya (Maisie Williams), who was punished by having her sight taken in the Season 5 finale, and “The Breaker of Chains.” A new photo shows a blind Arya, who appears to be in battle.

Another image shows Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) tied up and a prisoner to the Dothraki. The former queen is a long way from home, and it will be up to Daarion Naharis (Michiel Huisman) and Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen) to find her.

“The women are rocking this season,” Michael Lombardo, HBO programming president told EW. “Daenerys (Clarke) always does, but also Brienne (Gwendoline Christie), Arya (Williams), Sansa (Sophie Turner), Cersei (Lena Headey), Margaery (Natalie Dormer), and other characters too, like Yara (Gemma Whelan). They power this season. It’s organic to the storytelling, yet a radical shift. It’s the women that are the hope that we’re watching as the chess pieces move this season, and it’s very exciting.”

Newcomers joining the Game of Thrones cast  include Freddie Stroma as Dickon Tarly, the brother of John Bradley’s Samwell; Richard E. Grant in a mystery role; Pilou Asbæk as Euron Greyjoy; and Ian McShane in an undisclosed role.

Game of Thrones Season 6 premieres Sunday, April 24th at 9pm ET on HBO.
