Taye Diggs is going to dabble in politics, well his character Angelo Dubois on season three of Empire is! The city councilman from New York City will make his debut on the September 21 premiere episode according to TV Line.
They described his character as, a young Barack Obama-type with a degree from Harvard who could’ve made a lot of money working in the private sector. Instead, he focuses on community organizing and local politics. He’s a handsome man that comes from a respected family that’s just not impressed by money.
Henson told EW Diggs owes her big since she claims to be the one who suggested he join the cast. “I requested Taye Diggs you know, she said. “Taye Diggs you owe me a Chanel bag! Okay whoever I get a job for on Empire, you owe me a Chanel bag.”

Season three continues to rack up guest stars and recurring roles including rapper Xzibit who was bumped up to a recurring role in February. Khloe Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend French Montana was announced as a guest star in July for the role of Vaughn, a member of Lucious Lyon’s (Terrence Howard) powerful inner circle and maybe love interest for Cookie (Taraji P. Henson). Rapper and Lil’ Wayne-sometime-nemesis Birdman and singer Sierra McClain will also guest star.
