The country music world is mourning the loss of Joey Feek, who died on Friday after a long battle with cervical cancer. She was 40 years old.
Her husband Rory Feek confirmed the news in a blog post titled A Dream Come True. “My wife’s greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven. The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry,” he wrote. “Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior.”
Friends and family have expressed their condolences to the Feek family, including Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton, who took to Twitter to share a few kind words.
“Praying for the family & friends of Joey Feek. A beautiful soul moved into heaven today. A beautiful legacy she left behind. @joeyandrory,” Underwood tweeted on Friday.
Shelton wrote: “So sad to hear about Joeys passing.”
“Thoughts, prayers, and condolences to the Feek family. Have played shows with Joey and Rory before and it’s so sad to lose her amazing voice,” Chris Young wrote.
