Fans of Mel Brooks rejoice! In a new book, the legendary writer and director will be giving a special behind-the-scenes look into one of his most popular films, Young Frankenstein. It’ll include never-before-seen photos, original interviews with the cast and crew, and a special making of, set to be released on October 18.
Entertainment Weekly, who broke the news exclusively, shared an excerpt from the book aptly titled, Young Frankenstein: The Story of the Making of the Film.
“More than forty years later, when I was finally a little less scared, Whale’s movies would inspire me and my friend and collaborator Gene Wilder to make Young Frankenstein,” he explained. “Of all of my films, I am the proudest of this one. My hope was that Young Frankenstein would transport audiences the way I was transported as a kid sitting in the dark in Williamsburg. I think we succeeded, and in this book I will show you how we did it.”
Brooks co-wrote the book with L.A. Times film writer Rebecca Keegan. She took to Twitter on Wednesday to give followers a look at the cover.
She said, “Oh sweet mystery of life! I wrote a book w/@MelBrooks + it’s out in October”
