Richard Simmons is taking a stand against bullies and tabloids. The National Enquirer recently released a story claiming Simmons was transitioning into a woman and was going by the name Fiona. “Richard Simmons is transitioning into a woman — but he’s desperate to keep it a secret! The National ENQUIRER released today a bombshell exclusive report and jaw-dropping photos that prove he’s begun a life-changing transformation,” says on the Enquirer‘s website.
Simmons, who was hospitalized for dehydration on June 3, made a statement Tuesday on his verified Facebook account:
“Some tabloids have recently falsely reported that I am transitioning. In response, I feel compelled to set the record straight and refute these lies. Although I am not transitioning, I have and always will be supportive of those who are going through their journey.”

He also showed his support for the victims of the Orlando Pulse Nightclub tragedy. “We should not lose focus on showing love, strength and compassion to all of the LGBT community during these tragic times. My broken heart and healing thoughts are with the people of Orlando and all other victims of prejudice, bigotry and hate.”
On June 8, Simmons’ representative Thomas Estey told The Hollywood Reporter, “The story is a complete fabrication and not true.”
