It’s almost time to celebrate “Dia de Los Muertos” and Disney plans to celebrate in a very special way. Disney Channel and Disney Junior will debut a special simulcast of Elena of Avalor‘s themed episode entitled, “A Day to Remember” this Sunday, October 16 (7:00 p.m. ET/PT). Variety Latino is joining in on the fun by sharing this very special video featurette with the cast and creative team behind the popular animated series talking about the importance of this holiday.
In the episode airing on Sunday, Elena (voiced by Aimee Carrero) discovers her ability to see ghosts and sets out to help the spirit of a woman mend the rift between her grandchildren and save the family restaurant. There will be some very popular guest stars from the popular series Jane the Virgin: Jamie Camil as Julio, Ivonne Coll as Doña Angelica as well as Queen of the South star Justina Machado as Carmen.
In the video below, you’ll also get a preview of the song “Festival of Love,” an upbeat and high-energy merengue written by story editor Silvia Olivas. The song is meant to honor and celebrate loved ones who have passed.
