It was an emotional night during the Billboard Latin Music Awards on April 30th, 2015 when Jennifer Lopez took the stage to pay tribute to the Queen of Tex-Mex, Selena Quintanilla.

Lopez, 45, alongside Los Dinos, Selena’s family band comprising of sister Suzette, brother A.B. Quintanilla and her widow Chris Pérez, with whom she performed with from the beginning of her career, left everyone visibly emotional as they paid homage to the late singer who was tragically killed 20 years ago.

Beginning with a video montage of Selena’s best moments, the performance started with Lopez singing the hit “Como La Flor” as the ceremony’s audience cheered along. Ripping off her sheer overlay and wearing Selena’s signature bustier, JLo transitioned to “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” where she was joined by A.B. on the bass, Suzette on the drums and Pérez on the guitar.

The singer imitated the iconic Tejano singer’s dance moves as she then performed “Amor Prohibido”, followed by a quick wardrobe change where she transitioned over to sing the famous English-language single “I Could Fall In Love With You”.

Without a doubt the crowd went wild and grew nostalgic as JLo once again incarnated the Mexican singer like she did back in the 1997 biopic Selena that launched her into Hollywood fame.

The presentation continued and things slowed down as a 12-piece mariachi band playing “No Me Queda Más” accompanied the singer who showcased her vocal talents and visibly grew emotional.

The intimate performance received a standing ovation and Lopez thanked the audience as she embraced Selena’s family.
