20th Century Fox released a new trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence Friday in celebration of Earth Day. Directed by Roland Emmerich, the film stars Liam Hemsworth and Jeff Goldblum.
The sequel reunites several members from the 1996 original film, which takes place 20 years after the first invasion and sees the aliens coming back to Earth.The new trailer sees President Lanford (Sela Ward) give a speech about the 20 year anniversary and David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) acknowledge Will Smith’s Steven Hiller, who won’t be appearing in the movie. We also find out that aliens are coming back with even bigger ships thanks to a distress call been pinging into space.
The cast includes Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward.
Independence Day: Resurgence opens June 24, 2016.
