New Trailer for Terrence Malick-Produced Documentary

The first trailer for Almost Holy, a new documentary produced by Terrence Malick was released Tuesday. The film was directed by Steve Hoover (Blood Brother).

Previously titled Crocodile Gennadiy, the doc follows a Ukrainian pastor, Gennadiy Mohknenko, who made a name for himself by forcibly abducting homeless drug-addicted kids from the streets to bring to his private rehabilitation center, Pilgrim Republic. Over the years, he helped many displaced children. But, now his center has evolved into a more nebulous institution.

“If society is silent and buries its youth,” Mohknenko says in the trailer, “then the vigilantes come out.” The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year.

Malick and Nicolas Gonda produced the film, which features a score from Atticus Ross.

Almost Holy will be released on May 20 in Los Angeles and New York before expanding nationwide.
